Totto-Chan The Little Girl at the Window, an autobiographical film
As mentioned above, this animated film is based on an autobiographical book written by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. Its publication began in February 1979 as a compilation of journal articles in the magazine in the magazine Young Woman of the publisher of Kodansha.
Success came gradually, so they decided to compile all the articles to complement what is known today as an autobiography, eventually becoming a resounding success throughout Japan.
For all of the above, Kuroyanagi received countless offers to take her book to the big screen, but for one reason or another, she ended up rejecting the proposals, so many were already convinced that it would be impossible to take this work to the movies, but after the confirmation that now it will become a film, the author shared a few words with the public.
Below we will share with you the Spanish translation:
"After I wrote "Totto-chan at the Window" in 1981, I received requests from a large number of film directors to make it into a movie. I often joke, but I still remember receiving letters from almost every film director except Akira Kurosawa. However, isn't the picture better in the heads of everyone who reads the book?
I turned them all down. So, what about the animation this time? Speaking of which... hahaha. In that case, I thought youngsters might enjoy seeing it. It still makes me happy when I go to a bookstore and hear that they have it, and I look forward to hearing the impressions of kids who have read the book. Recently, the world situation has changed in various ways, so I hope the younger generation who see this movie will think: It was interesting!"
