Maybe you've seen it on Netflix or Crunchyroll? Thinking it was just another anime. But, you will be surprised to know that it is neither an anime, nor is it from Japan. It is a Donghua, that is, an animation of Chinese origin.

 A giant toad attacks the city, devastating everything in its path. It was the demon king "Er Ha". To confront him, the protectors of the planet, the "Immortal Team", are present. The most powerful heroes. Quickly, they go into action attacking with the best they have, but it is not enough to stop the colossal creature. 

The team leader can notice that there is a boy passing near the line of fire, he was distracted with a bag of ramen. So he decides to save him, just in time. But, the huge toad managed to corner him and was about to kill him. The boy steps in and with a single kick defeats the toad. 

This boy is our protagonist, a young man endowed with abilities beyond any limit. He was born during the planetary alignment, so he obtained magic without limits, even getting to know his creator. 

On the day of his birth he needed no help from anyone, he went out on his own and did not require help from the doctors. At the age of 6 he was strong enough to defeat the giant toad. His father, in view of the great risk posed by his son's magic, decided to seal his abilities almost entirely. 

As Wang Ling grows older, her father replaces the seal and perfects it to further suppress her strength and emotions. These seals allow him to lead a peaceful life and ensure that he does not destroy the earth. But, the protagonist's life will take an unexpected turn when he enters high school. 

Our protagonist just wants to live peacefully without problems, but that will have to wait, as he will encounter several enemies that threaten world security. 

Main characters 

Wang Ling 

He is a teenager who was born with superhuman strength and endowed with abilities that bring him close to the level of a god. In order to attend school, his father had to seal all his magic with the help of a seal, plus Wang must take pills that help him further reduce his strength. 

He is unable to express or feel emotions, as a result of taking the pills, if his emotions get out of control, he can break the seal and release all the contained magic, which would be a danger to everyone. 

Sun Rong 

She is the most popular girl in school, she is also very powerful and has great interest in being the class delegate. She is the daughter of a millionaire and very influential family. Later it is revealed that they are descendants of the monkey king, Sun Wukong, so they are rivals of the Tang family. 

The first time he met Wang, he defended him from some thugs. The young man as a token of gratitude gave her money. Leaving the girl somewhat confused. Eventually the love between the two will begin to blossom, but they will face several challenges and sacrifices before they can be together. 

Er Ha

He is sent to earth to conquer it and take all its spiritual essence to deliver it as tribute. But, he is defeated by Wang when he was only 6 years old. 10 years later, he is summoned by the same boy who defeated him. But, the teacher of the course transforms him into a dog, to make him look friendlier. 

From that moment on, he begins to accompany the protagonist and his friends in the different adventures, being a very important element of the team. 

How many seasons and episodes does the daily life of the immortal king have?

The series premieres on January 18, 2020, has 39 episodes spread over 3 seasons. It is currently available in both Netflix like Crunchyroll.

  • First season: It consists of 15 episodes. Wang hopes to have a peaceful stay during his time at school, but he must face the senior high school, to win each of the challenges. 
  • Second season: It has 12 episodes. The Shadow Killer is defeated, so Wang hopes to have some quiet time, but a new enemy emerges and the world's security is in danger.
  • Third season: It features the Kyuumiy family, a clan of very talented exorcists who plan to use demons to take over the world.

The series is based on the novel written by Kuxuan, a Chinese writer about whom little is known. It was serialized by Qidian for the Chinese public and by Webnovel in its English version. Currently, it has more than 2,000 episodes, so it is expected to have many more seasons, the fourth being the most awaited. 

In China, manga are called manhuas, and anime are called donghuas. Although certainly due to the animation style, they are often confused with Japanese productions. 

Curiosities about daily life of the immortal  

  • The form of magic in the series is called cultivation, while in other productions we are used to hearing about ki or chakra, here cultivation is the means that allows the user to create everything, even entire realms.
