The film will be directed by Shigeru Morikawa and produced by Sanzigen, the same studio behind the previous installments of the franchise.
The film follows the rock band Argonavis as they struggle to achieve success in the music industry, facing obstacles on their way to their first album and major concert.
Concept
The "From Argonavis" multimedia franchise has been noted for its distinctive style and use of capital letters to differentiate the project and band names.
Although its full title is "Argonavis of BanG Dream!", franchise creator Takaaki Kidani has made it clear that there will be no interaction between characters from the main "BanG Dream!" franchise and this new project, as they exist in different worlds.
Originally, Argonavis was planned as an extension of "BanG Dream!", but the mixed reception to the appearance of male characters in an all-female franchise led Argonavis to become a stand-alone project in an alternate continuity.
Unlike "BanG Dream!", which is set in Shinjuku, Tokyo, the story of "Argonavis of BanG Dream!" is set in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
The main characters of the band Argonavis are five college freshmen. They began their debut with their "0th Live" on July 29, 2018 and their second "0th Live" was held on September 15, followed by their third concert on December 10, 2018 at Shimokitazawa GARDEN. During their first "0th Live," the band distributed their first original song, "Steady Goes!" for free to attendees.
The band released their first single, "Goal Line" on February 20, 2019, followed by their second single, "Starting Over" on August 21, 2019. The band's first concert was held on May 17 at the Maihama Amphitheater in Chiba Prefecture, and the serialization of the franchise's manga was announced, as well as the music video for "Goal Line." The band's second concert, "Voice -Hoshizora no Shita no Yakusoku," was held on December 5, 2019 at Tokyo Dome City Hall.
In November 2019, Bushiroad announced that the franchise would have an anime series scheduled for spring 2020, as well as a mobile rhythm game to be released in early spring 2021.
The story of the game takes place after the story of the anime. In addition to Argonavis and Gyroaxia, the franchise introduced three new bands: εpsilonΦ, Fujin Rizing! and Fantome Iris, which will appear in the new game.
Characters
The characters are in different musical bands, we tell you about the members of Argonavis:
Ren Nanahoshi
Ren Nanahoshi is the vocalist of Argonavis and is a first-year college student in law school.
Since he was a child, Ren has always been excited about outdoor concerts, and his greatest wish was to get on a big stage someday. However, because he has difficulty communicating with others, he only limited himself to singing at karaoke sessions.
It was then that Yūto discovered him and offered him to join Argonavis as a vocalist. Although Ren is generally a quiet person, he gets very excited when it comes to music and his voice is the key part of Argonavis' distinctive sound.
Yuto Goryō
Yuto Goryō is the guitarist of the band Argonavis in the anime of the same name, he is also a first-year university student studying at the Faculty of Letters.
Although he was born into a prestigious family in Hakodate, he immersed himself in musical activities due to his inferiority complex towards his older brothers.
Yuto is a strong-minded and optimistic young man who believes that one day he will succeed with his band and that his family will finally look up to him with pride. With his motto "we wouldn't know before we tried", he created Argonavis with enough confidence. In the anime, Yuto is voiced by Daisuke Hyūga.
Wataru Matoba
Wataru Matoba is a first-year university student in the Faculty of Letters and the bassist of Argonavis.
Since he was a child, he has been with his older brother after his mother disappeared and his father, a sailor, went to work at sea. It was his older brother who introduced him to music, and he became interested in the bass by watching him play in his own band.
Although he is a quiet and cautious character, Wataru has been known to make negative comments to keep the band centered and focused on success. He believes that constructive criticism is essential for growth and improvement, and is committed to doing his part to help Argonavis reach the top.
Rio Kikyo
Keyboardist Rio Kikyo, also known as Kikyo Rinsheng or Kikyo Rio, is a first-year university student studying at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics.
Because he has been exposed to a variety of activities, including studies, sports and music, from an early age, he has been called "Shindou" by the people around him, meaning "child prodigy."
Although his dream was to become a baseball player, an injury forced him to abandon his career. Rio is known for not showing his true emotions, but he is always willing to help others and do his best for his band.
Banri Shiroishi
Banri Shiroishi is the drummer of Argonavis, a band he joined to make a name for himself and earn money to rebuild his parents' dairy farm, which went under with debt.
He is currently a first-year undergraduate student in the School of Business.
From a young age, he has had experience playing taiko and his powerful performance caught the attention of Argonavis.
Despite his short stature, he made use of his drumming to demonstrate his power and join the band. Banri is known to be a thorough pragmatist, unpleasant with waste and constantly creates a state of tension in the band.
