Fire Force: A shonen about firefighters who fight fire with fire?
Fire Force
Japanese animation, better known as anime, has world-class recognition thanks to its incredible variety of genres and it is not for less, since there is literally for all tastes, and while the latter is more subjective, we should mention that there is one that stands out from the average and it is the shonen, which is based on an energetic protagonist, frenetic fights and, of course, a touch of drama that usually fascinates viewers, so it is not surprising that it is one of the most watched today and among the best examples, we have our star of today, Fire Force, a very particular anime that has proven to have what it takes to achieve fame.
Fire Force, firefighters who put out fire with fire
En'en no Shōbōtai, better known by its English translation, Fire Force, presents us with a story full of action, comedy and drama, where there is a special team of firefighters whose mission, as expected, is to put out fires, although it is not just any fire, but creatures that are nicknamed as infernal.
These infernals have special abilities based on fire and therefore, their destructive power represents a danger to everyone, and to face them, the firefighters assigned to these missions also have special fire abilities, so they fight fire with fire, an irony that more than curious, it suits the plot very well.
This is where our protagonist comes in, Shinra Kusakabe, who, at the beginning of the anime, is presented as a third-generation pyrokinetic teenager who has the power to set his feet on fire, achieving abilities that are more than powerful, they are quite useful, so it is not surprising that he receives the nickname of "devil's footprints".
Shinra is selected to join Squad 8, a team that is made up of other firefighters, having as its leader the lieutenant, the highest figure who makes the team's decisions. This squad is also known as Company 8, although the latter does not affect the development of the plot and is more of an alternative name to refer to the main characters.
As expected, Shinra will face various situations that put his life at risk, but there is a great motivation for it and it is not only to save everyone he can, but also to take revenge for an event that completely affected his life, being the main reason why he not only dreams of being a hero.
During the development of the episodes, we will learn more about the organization to which our protagonists belong, so little by little, other squads will appear, such as Company 1 and Company 5, where there will also be users with the power to control fire. Undoubtedly, a shonen with a lot of story to tell.
Find out how many seasons and episodes the Fire Force anime has
As expected, Fire Force ended up becoming a success and although it is not in the top of the industry, we must admit that it is positioned quite well, so it is not surprising that it counts with 2 seasons of 24 episodes each, with a total of 48.
The first season premiered for the July 5, 2019, while the second one, which is entitled En'en no Shōbōtai: Ni no Shou, was launched last July 3, 2020, The public's reception was very good.
It is worth mentioning that both seasons were produced by the studio David Production under the direction of Yuki Yase, who has been praised for his animation work and many hope that he will continue to be responsible for the following seasons, although the latter has fans up in arms, but why?
Will it have a third season?
As we have mentioned, this anime has captured the attention of users, achieving great popularity inside and outside Japan. That is why many fans are waiting for the third season, but to the surprise of many, 2 years have passed since the end of the second season and to date, there is still no news about a continuation.
However, this is nothing to worry about, because although season 3 has not been confirmed, it is almost a fact that we will have a third part and for this, we take into account not only the popularity that the anime has achieved, but also the manga, being only a matter of time to be confirmed and many estimate that this 2023 we will have important news about this.
Atsushi Ōkubo, creator of Fire Force
As well as many other anime, Fire Force is also based on a manga of the same name, being written and drawn by the mangaka Atsushi Ōkubo, who is well known in the industry for his previous works, such as B.Ichi, published in 2002 and Soul Eater, published in 2003.
Soul Eater achieved enough fame to get its own anime, which premiered on April 7, 2008, with only one season in which they give a half-hearted closure, which has left open the possibility of a continuation, or at least that's what fans of the show hope.
Atsushi began publishing Fire Force on September 23, 2015 in the magazine Shūkan Shōnen Magazine, ending for February 2022, totaling 34 volumes.
Fire Force and Soul Eater?
As you may already know, the author of both manga is the same. Atsushi Ōkubo and although in the industry there are any number of artists with more than one published work, we must point out that this time it is quite different, since both stories could be connected.
As we just mentioned, the manga ended a year ago and without giving spoilers, in its last chapters, the followers of both works did not stop looking for the "connections" between the two universes, but as you can imagine, we will not reveal the big surprise and on the contrary, we invite you to find it yourselves and enjoy this incredible journey.
Fire Force, a shonen not to be missed
